Happy Thanksgiving-WKRP Style

This post is inspired by Twitter.  Last night and this morning a couple people I follow were tweeting about the WKRP in Cincinnati “turkey drop” episode.  OMG!  It is so funny!  As I was looking around on You Tube, watching clips, I was laughing out loud in my kitchen.  Seriously, it was a brilliant show.

Unfortunately, there isn’t one perfect clip to feature.   So, here are a couple to watch.  Enjoy!

A brief, hilarious montage from the Turkey Drop episode of WKRP:

This next one is great for the audio portion of the hilarity.

Oh, the humanity!  Do you have a favorite Thanksgiving TV moment?  Share it with us!

Writer’s Workshop-Love Letters

It’s time to respond from one of this week’s prompts from Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop:  Write a love letter to an inanimate object.  This was a tough one to narrow down.  I mean, how can I choose?  My bed, the couch, my Soda Stream or the toaster oven.  It came down to two:  my iPhone and the DVR.  Here are my letters, short and sweet.

Dear iPhone,

When my husband first said, “You need one of those”, I replied, “No.  I don’t need all that.”  How wrong I was!  You have made my life so much easier.  You keep my appointments, my phone numbers (so I don’t have to memorize them), and give me games to play (when I’m hiding from the kids).  You enable my addictions to Twitter and Pinterest and allow me to listen to my beloved WGN radio when I’m anywhere in the world.  I can read email, surf the net, or watch a movie.  And, most importantly?  You keep my kids occupied when they’re being hellions challenging.  Yes, you’ve changed my life!

Love, Late Mommy

Next letter:

Dear DVR,

You don’t’ know this, but I’ve always been a huge fan of TV.  In my younger days, it was easy to keep up on my favorite shows.  There weren’t that many channels.  As I got older, technology matured, too.  The VCR (if you don’t know what that is a ask your parents or grandparents) allowed me to tape shows and have a social life.  But today?  There are so many channels with so many shows from which to choose.  And I have to put help kids with homework and put them to bed and try to have a social life.  You, dear DVR are a lifesaver.  I can set my favorite shows to tape record every week.  More than one show can record at one time AND I can watch my recordings on ANY television in the house!  *sigh*  I can have mini marathons of shows I don’t get to right away.  Oh, DVR, you are THE enabler to my TV addiction and I love you so much!  Keep up the good work!

Love, Late Mommy

What objects would you write a love letter to?
